Matched- a review.

Matched, by Ally Condie depicts the fast-paced story of Cassia Reyes, a girl trying to find her own path in a world where it is already layed in front of her. In the distant future, could our own government be planning our lives? Will we allow them to control us, and watch our every move?

All of Cassia Reyes’ life, she never realized how incredibly twisted it was to always be living under “The Society’s” watchful eye. Every breath she took, every mistake she made, recorded forever. Everyone born into this lifestyle lain out before them, practically day by day, right down to the day they die, their eighteenth birthday. So when Cassia turned sixteen, and it was finally time for her “matching ceremony”, like any other girl she was anxious, excited, and anticipating who she was going to spend the remainder of her life with. However, Cassia’s match was quite unusual. Normally individuals  will be matched with someone on the outside of their life, not a person who you grew up with-some who knows the ins-and-outs of your life, such as Cassia’s best friend, Xander Carrow. Unexpectly, this happens to Cassia’s and she is matched with Xander. But soon, Ky, a sheltered, mysterious, and undoubtedly handsome outsider comes into Cassia’s life, sidetracking her from the cycle of the conformist lifestyle she had come to know. Ky had never shown a keen interest for fitting in with the society. Ky and Cassia quickly develop an influential relationship, both becoming entranced.

Cassia soon faces a life altering decision: fate or true love? Matched is just book one of the dynamic trilogy, followed by Crossed, and Reached. This book had me drawn in from the front cover to the last page. The tone of the book, deifiance is depicted in the characters’ every action throghouts their dangerous journeys against The Society. I practically could not put it down. I strongly recommend it for anyone looking for a science-fiction novel that tells of fights to conform and find true love with churning ups and downs throughout the story. The story quickly turns into a fight for Cassia and  Ky to able to love freely, and spirals into a war against The Society.  The mysteries, wars, deceit, of the Society continue on while the love triangle plays out and relationships are changed forever. This dystopian romance/thriller will have you hooked for good.
