As the political environment grows ever more intense in our country, global political issues make their way not only on the television, but in the classroom. On January 30, 2026, San Ramon Valley students displayed a fight for justice in the face of immorality. Students rallied together to protest ICE, also known as Immigration Customs Enforcement, for it is what they believe to be a threat in the face of justice and worth taking a stand against.
Sparked by the murders of American citizens Renee Good and Alex Peretti, ICE raids have proven to endanger the lives of not only immigrants but a threat to Americans as well. SRV students took a stand during the walkout for justice, and hundreds of students collaborated in a collective effort to vocally protest during the school day. Cars honked in support, students shouted, and the flame of social persistence was lit, under the safety of administrative protection.

Signs that proclaimed “No One Is Illegal on Stolen Land”, “ICE Out!”, and “Abolish ICE” were several of the many signs that were present during the walkout. Local news channels publicized the events, displaying the student awareness and social dispute regarding the nation-wide ICE raids occurring in America. To quote Mae _____, a current student at SRV present at the walkout, “_________________________”.
San Ramon Valley voices proved that they refuse to stay silent in the face of violent injustice no matter what during the anti-ice walkout. Students proved that injustice has no place in our country, and certainly not in SRV. This bold and valiant display of the student body’s intolerance for violence sent a message to our community and to our country: we will not stay silent. As political and social turmoil relentlessly persists, the SRV student body has proven that injustice will not slide, and voices do make a difference.
